Before I rented a room in this house I too used a French press; but, they are somewhat difficult to clean. I find it hard to believe that your coffee isn’t better than what you can buy at Pilot. Maybe you need to look into getting better beans. Even using a cheap electric brew pot I can make much better coffee than what I’ve ever had from any convenience store. Most of the time it is better than from true coffee houses. I would dare even call it ‘gourmet’ coffee. But, it also helps to know what you like and research it a bit, maybe try a few. I tend to prefer dark roasts.

If you can get to a Walmart, you can get coffee beans.
But in the truck I am using the K-cups now.

I use beans at home, but not on the road.

Pilot, Flying J and Love's mostly have the newer machines that grind the beans for every cup brewed.
It does make some good coffee.

And it is not something I have used for over a year.
When the Covid restrictions hit early last year and I was unable to use my own coffee mug, I got a coffee maker from Walmart.
    K-cups.
Easy all the way around, and I no longer give the truck stops my coffee business.

    AramatAz Thanks this.
