Could anyone tell me the difference in MPG from say, a Kenworth W900 designed tractor compared to one of the newer designed trucks such as the T2000 tractor, the truck would be pulling vans.
I see International (Navistar) advertised about 7% gain with its Lonestar truck over a similar designed Freightliner, this would seem to indicate a large percentage over say the W900..
Thanks for the help (any web addresses with this info?)

the fuel will be about the same about 1 or 2 mpg i do believe maybe 3 at the most. b/c you are going still spend about $800 to $1000 a per fill up depending how much you drive it, if you don't drive it that much i would keep it about 1/2 tank in each tank and thats all

The rig pictured is a W9. I get 5.5 to 5.9.
Another guy I know doing the same thing with a T2000 is NOT getting any better.

Far as trucking goes 0.5 Mph is a big difference..
Ran the so called bricks and it was very hard to get into the 6Mpg range..
Usually around 5.5-5.9 ar Brick said.. Best I could get on a so called light load at 65Mph would be 6.2-6.5 at max... (probaly would say average between 5.6-5.7Mph)
A T600 and a Columbia I would get 5.5-6.5 and sometimes in the 7+MPh (7.2 max)
Above is with a Detroit
Now something else that plays a big part is engine gears ext...
Run a Cat and your just not going to get the upper 6 and most lily never see 7Mph
But a Cat in my opinion will use less fuel then a Detroit pulling heavy loads in mountains (that has been my experience) on the flats Detroit will use less..
But one of the most important factors when calculating fuel is driving style.. Some people just care about it and take steps in saving fuel. Other just smash the peddle and go all the time.. Many ways to save fuel in just how you drive...
Above is just my experience and something that I did pay a lot of attention to.. Just something I did to keep my self occupied on the road..

brickman; that truck is saaweet! time to polish those tanks, i see some dirt building up

Thanks
I'm really getting ragged on for my lack of polish tonight.Getting it over in the O/O forum too.
I should have mentioned that I get the numbers I posted with a CAT, and running 75 mph. Down right respectable numbers out of a largecar with a 500 CAT pulling an open car hauling trailer. -
what RPMs are you turning at 75mph? -
The load pictured was the heaviest that I know I've had with this rig. Still less than 72K. But I can only haul 7 vehicles depending on length. The guys that have the 9 or 10 car haulers can get over gross.
The only weight issue I have is that I can easy get over axle on the trailer if I have diesels in the wrong place.
about 1550 max Rs at 75. 3.55 rears with tall 24'' rubber.
