I saw the picture and it was an old antique iron bridge. I wouldn't have driven a car over it.

Just remember if you get caught that those types of tickets are in the 10' s of thousands of dollars.
Last on I read about was 12 or 17k can't remember the exact amount. -
Oh and there was that guy that got a 21k for a bridge in Naperville,il
noluck and Shock Therapy Thank this. -
I would call the consignee and ask them how other trucks going to that jobsite get there. Or tell my dispatch about the bridge so they could either get directions or tell you to drive over the brodge.
-
I agree about calling dispatch, they can hopefully help. I would also rather call the local jurisdiction and explain your problem. They may help with a solution as well.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Call the state and or the local county office.
Explain it's a new jobsite and see how they want to handle it.
If they say it's ok,get names and get it in writing.
Easier to deal with it now, before all the other trucks start coming to the site...Toomanybikes, driverdriver and JReding Thank this. -
County highway engineer would be my first call.
not4hire, Lostkeys and passingthru69 Thank this. -
Bridges are posted for a reason.
Also you don't want to hit a weight restrictions bridge fast or any bridge in the case. Yes theyare designed for impact speed, but the sudden hit on a weak bridge will collapse it faster
I run heavy haul. There are various bridges that I and other trucks have to take at certain speeds or crawl speeds.
I 70 in Md has several just off hand.
Just remember that if you break a wght restricted bridge you bought it.
Plus then your insurance may not cover it, due to the fact that you crossed a posted bridge over it's posted wght ratingDDlighttruck, Toomanybikes, driverdriver and 3 others Thank this. -
