Hi y’all! I just bought my first quad axle dump truck and I’m trying to figure out my GWVR and how much weight I can haul. I have 2007 Mack CV713.
I measured wheelbase from from axle hub to the middle point between tandems and I have 250in That’s means in NC my GWVR is 62500lbs. If I deduct empty weight 29280lbs I can haul 33220lbs or 15ton. Am I right?
Besides that I have 20k from,46k tandems, 13.5k lbs each pusher.

Measure from the center of the steer to the center of the fifth axle. Also, measure from the center of the fifth axle back to the second axle. Also, what is the GAWR on your front axle?

If NC uses federal bridge formula everywhere then this attached document for the red line highways in MS will work. You just have to use the most restrictive weight, which will most likely be the five axle measurement.

Many states do allow higher weights though when you aren't traveling on the interstates. Around me, TN and AL are much higher. You should be able to get more than 15 tons though. I can get 15 on a tri-axle using federal bridge formula and your numbers above show 16.5 tons, but you shorted yourself on that last axle measurement.

How many Lift Axles? 1 or 2

There are two different totals you can haul for each configuration. One is “NC highways/Interstates” and the other is “NC Backroads”. Basically big highways or city/county streets. Measure your wheelbase correctly and then call one of the NC scale houses. When you get someone on the phone from the scale house, they will ask you your trucks wheel base and number of axles. They will type it in and tell you exactly what you’re legally allowed to haul. That’s the easiest way I’ve found to found out what your legal for. Sometimes it’s tricky to find the number to the Scale House. Call one of the State Trooper sub stations and they can give you the correct number to call

You’ll be able to haul more on low tonnage roads than on the Interstate, I can tell you that much.
