We both can use a little space. However, I am the cold one and she is the warm one so it balances out really well most of the time. Something to do with metabolism or other.
We had a upper bunk and a lower one with more room. Once in a while when parked long term we will have the landing gear set or in a hotel. A nice Super 8 with two double beds makes for a restful time.
Once in a while we run into a truckstop that has couples showers for marrieds. Reno comes to mind, they had a duplicate set of two of everything in there that made for a very good washup in half the time. I think that was the TA on the north side of 80 I could be mistaken, there are a number of truckstops on the east end of downtown.
If you ignore the fact that Reno is the divorce capital of the USA you can do well there. The casinos are not the generous. We use Sky City or Vegas for that The table games mainly for me and the 5 cents for her. The money used is never part of the house or truck needs. It's always a little extra. Now there was one small town north and west of vegas several counties over in which vices were and are legal and a little bit of sorting out that we are in fact married (We usually carried a marriage cert with us among other things) so that's easily sorted. It was a nice little town, rather quiet too. I would not mind visiting again. But not just yet. But maybe before I get too old. We'll see how it goes. The gambling was pretty profitable at the small table there.
I occasionally ran into women during my time as a single trucker long before we married and they were very good women in many ways, such as being sharp in the mind and so on. Ive always like that very much. But when I measure them against the potential for being a trucker wife someday, I felt that it's best to leave them be and not pursue a courtship any further for a variety of reasons. One in particular we shared a good lunch and had a 7 year old daughter. from a abusive relationship. To have that daughter give me a hug kind of broke my heart a little bit. I knew I would be a very good daddy but at that time I was a trucker and don't think it would have worked out very well with me gone 16 hours daily for up to 6 days a week. A young daughter needs both mommy and daddy while growing up. I never forgot them. I hope that after all these years they were able to thrive and do well. It's the least I could do for them wishing them well. But trucking demands certain sacrifices that I was not prepared to make when younger step children with future siblings were involved in the mix.
But it's not all bad. But I do think of them now and then. Fortunately there isnt too many of them to think about. Life is like that sometimes.

If she can drive the truck, wrench on the truck, and looks good in a sexy witch or cat woman outfit, I'd say take her.
Maj. Jackhole, motocross25 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
I have never once felt intimidated by truck drivers. My wife would not either. They aren’t inmates in lockup, leering at females. At worst they act pissy about small things like fuel lines and parking. At best, they are just like other working dudes that can really be helpful and respectful. My wife would definitely want to pull the truck over for a 30 near something neat every day. I think it would be fun to bring my wife on a limited basis. Maybe 2 weeks.
