When I was doing local p&d, I would do the dock plate at most of my stops as it seemed to be the norm for all p&d carriers. It certainly made the stops go by quicker but also it seemed like the customers found it impolite if you didn't handle the plate for them.
Those dock plates bust ALL the time. It's just a normal day in that warehouse. I'd be shocked if you or your company heard anything about it again.
