While I'm at it about my trainer, he was a great guy by the way. One night after we parked at the truck stop, I went inside alone for a couple of hours with my laptop. He was really tired and needed some sleep, being the old geezer he was
Anywho, when I returned to the truck and opened the door, he was spooked right out of his deep sleep, reached under his mattress and pulled out a 2' long machete and pointed at me! He had really poor vision without his thick glasses on. I was like, "HEY waited a minute, what are you doing, man!"
Realizing it was just me, he laid back down and said, "please don't tell anyone in the office about this, it's against company policy to carry a weapon like this on the truck." LOL

I eventually became a "trainer" myself. One of the guys on my truck was a cool dude from SoCal. Very mellow personality and unassuming.
Second or third night out, we're both sound asleep, me on bottom bunk and he on top bunk. I awoke to a loud thump on the floor next to me! I said, "John, did you just fall out of the bunk?" Followed by loud grunting sounds and a frantic attempt by him to unzip the privacy curtain on the PB 587.
"Dude! WAKE up!!!"...
When he finally came around, he told me that he was dreaming that I was driving and had fallen asleep and was about to drive off a cliff! He was sleeping in his dream, which is weird, dreaming you are sleeping while you are sleeping?
Anyways, he jumped out of the bunk and was trying to unzip the curtain to wake me up and save us both from dying! -

Lots of rain today. Finally quit about an hour east of Sydney, Nebraska, which is where I'm laid up for the evening. 413 miles to Little America and a little break from the road. Usually I hate doing 34s, but this one I'm looking forward to. Not sure why exactly, but I seem to be a little down on stamina this week. Guess everyone gets tired once in awhile.
Hope y'all are having a great weekend. -
Edit: just looked at their website. They say they have a "grill?"
They used to have a nice dinning room there! Or have I completely lost my mind?????Last edited: Mar 25, 2017

They closed the restaurant 3 or 4 years ago. Now just a deli and grill in the store, but still pretty good(at least its not subway)

Isn't there a restaurant in the other building where cars get fuel?
Broke Down 69 Thanks this. -
No, they dont have a true sit down any more.
Over in the gift shop/auto fuel store they have a deli/ grill, that is only open during the day for cooked foods.
Over in the diesel side, they have a grill. serves breakfast and lunch/dinner foods.
both places have seating, just no table service.
the grill and shower side was overhauled just about two years ago, maybe a little less
The one in Flagstaff has been undergoing a lot of work.
they still have a full service restaurant as well as the grill in the travel center.passingthru69, Big Don, DDlighttruck and 2 others Thank this. -
Wyoming. What a state. Rain, snow...a snowbow, never seen one of them before, and now no wind and 50 degrees. All in the space of about 5 hours.
I'm at Little America now, just had a bite to eat and am getting all my stuff together for a shower and laundry...I hope they have that, haven't really checked on it. Looking at my logs it works out that I can run on recap into Klamath, haven't decided whether or not to do it but it would mean I could complete my lap without another reset...just means I'd be at the Pilot in KF for 34 hours...ugh.
I'll sort it out later, right now I just want to get cleaned up and relax for a bit.
More later...Lepton1, tony97905, Big Don and 1 other person Thank this.
