And here I am saying this thread is a place with class.

Man did that just go sideways quick.

    A short story.

Back in my government employmet days, we had a delightful young lady in our ranks. She was very healthy and had great sweaters. Our uniforms had two pockets on the front, with a flap and button. When she was in uniform the pockets were quite prominent, and useless on her.

    Her nickname was "Pockets"

Took her about 6 or 7 months to finally ask why we called her pockets. surprisingly she was very good with that.

When I was in college, there was a gal at the student radio station who was pretty well endowed. One day she made the joke, "There's three reasons why a girl wears a sweater. One is to keep warm. The other two are obvious." From that time on, every time she came in wearing anything snug, one of us would crack, "yeah, they are..."

Can you imagine getting away with THAT in today's world?
One SO that I worked for had a young, (but not too young,) female dispatcher. Everybody loved this gal, but she had somewhat of a "different" type of face. So she became affectionately known as "Jaws."
One year at the Christmas party gift exchange, she received a sex toy. And we were all opening the presents we got. I swear she laughed harder over this than any of the rest of us did.

Been a little busy yesterday and today. Kids are expensive and I've been hemorrhaging money buying clothes, shoes and various accoutrements required. Guess I need to go back to work to replenish the coffers...but I'm not in any rush. Got a load down to FL waiting then a reload back to Charlotte then I'll be swinging out yo get ready for my next Oregon loop. Company is on a hiring binge...we'll see how that works out.

    More later...

It's great you're having time with your children. I'm sure they appreciate all the stuff you're buying for them, but being with you means more than all of the other.

As you gain experience, I would suggest trying to get in a position where you can get home every weekend if possible.

Actually, I'm working on that now. Big money is great but it's coming to me with a heavy price tag applied.

It always does, especially in our industry. Chasing miles in the name of making "big" money is an illusion and very addicting. It never works out the way you think it's going to.

There's a line, and as you alluded, a price.

Will be heading out this afternoon for WA. Kind of weird starting my week off going in the opposite direction. However, I mixed it up last week and grabbed a short round tripper (800 miles) out of Kent, WA last Thursday to Medford & back up to Vancouver for tomorrow morning.

The extra revenue was pretty nice and I still got home for my customary 3 nights, which I like ;-) I'm booked on a load down to Riverside after I deliver in the morning that delivers Wednesday morning.
