It's amazing how those weekly average expectations can shrink so fast, eh?

Sometimes you just have to take what you can get to get someplace where you can get what you want to take.
Not that much is likely to be leaving out of Havilland....
Where are you loading in PU town?

Airborne, cke and Broke Down 69 Thank this.

Pallets of stone and precast concrete pavers. Yeah, Haviland is plum out in the middle of nowhere, but dispatch better figure something out or i may just mosey on over to Dodge City and pick a fight with the Earps...lol.

It won't be the Earps, unfortunately. There's not much else around either. Pratt is rebuilding their "truck stop" on US 54. It would be a lot safer if you have to spend the night there than out at Dodge City. I spent a lot of nights in Dodge City in the early 90's, since that was one end of a grain run. Wasn't too bad back then. You couldn't pay me enough to spend the night out there now.
Back in the early 90's, I went to work for a local fellow pulling a hopper. Haviland was the first place he sent me. 80 miles one way. I got that contract done and they sent me to Ritchie Ag, 14 miles north of Haviland. I got that contract finished as well and thought, "I don't have to go back out there."
Fast forward 2 years when I met my future wife. One weekend she asked if I wanted to go to the farm and meet her parents. "Sure, let's go". Her dad was going to trade her cars, so she drove us out there. She never said, and I never really asked, where we were going, I was just happy to spend time with her. As she slowed down on US 50 by Belpre and started to turn south, I thought "You're kidding me." Passed Ritchie Ag and about 7 miles south, we arrived.
You couldn't put my in-laws place any closer to dead center between those two elevators if you'd have used a tape measure. 22 years later, I'm still going out there.

Strapping it is a bit of a challenge, but no hill for a high stepper like @Broke Down 69. :D

Actually, there was an occasional load that came in on a flatbed with a side kit. They had to use the lift to dump him off the back. Fairly time consuming because there's really not any way to control the flow. Too fast, and they would wind up with a huge pile in the pit that had to be cleaned up.
    Here's a link to some pics: http://brownsflour.com/Flour_UnloadingPics_Page2.htm
I couldn't find any better pics. These guys must have a big pit to hold most, if not all, of the load at once.

Used to do something similar when I hauled potatoes as a company driver with May. 524028_4004812241597_635369783_n.jpg 578460_4004818161745_81919628_n.jpg
