    Boy, I wish...read.on.

Woke up yesterday and nearly hit the floor. Lamp table beside the bed saves me from that indignity, decided maybe I might need to have it looked at. Doctor ordered an xray, then said he needed to see more detail and i got worried. Off to the hospital for an MRI. Was told I'd here about it today, but another doctor came in with a walking boot and instructions to stay off it. Worried now. Then they took me down and performed a drain and removed 6.5 ounces of fluid from my ankle and lower calf. Now I'm starting to understand. I'm really injured, not just hurt. Doctor calls today and tells me what I've pretty much figured out for myself...i have a ruptured Achilles tendon. Doc said the only thing keeping my heel in place was the sheath that encased the tendon was still intact. Couldn't figure out how I kept walking and working without it letting go or me crapping out from the pain. Dad always Sid if you're gonna be stupid you better be tough. So I'm in a boot for two weeks, then they'll reevaluate it to see if I'm going to need surgery. Down for a month minimum...perhaps as many as four.

    Bloody Hell.

    More later...

    #### sorry to hear about that BD.

I typed something else, but thought that the humor may be lost considering what you're going through. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Ouch, thats really about all i can say.

My guess is your looking at surgery. Had a cousin do same thing. He had surgery, it went very well, they have it down. The rehab is the key. got to do the work.

Were you wearing a good pair of lace up boots? If so, that should have helped with the support!
Man I am so darn sorry to see this. But I really didn't like what you were describing right after the injury.
What is important now, and I know that for a very active guy, this is going to be hard to do, BUT follow the doctor's orders. If he says "stay off of it," then for the love of God, STAY OFF OF IT! If he tells you to use heat and ice alternately, and keep it elevated, then do it! When it is time, he will likely send you to physical therapy.
You may have a lot of hoops to jump through, (figuratively, not literally,) but since this happened when you were working, Workers Comp should cover it. If they give you too much grief, then hire a lawyer who specializes in workers comp claims.

Yep, it's never any fun, (unless you like pain,) but it is a necessary evil with an injury like this.

Again, BD, I'm just so darn sorry to see this. Take care of yourself man, your way too young, (and I don't really care how old you are, you are still too young,) to permanently screw up your body, trying to be "macho."
Macho is for guys that are extremely insecure anyway.........
