Well, this has turned into a very trying run. Left out of Iowa this morning and was making fine time for the first 3.5 hours. Then the morning coffee needed to be pumped out so i hit a service plaza on the Illinois/Indiana border and things desended into chaos. Now i admit that i dawdled around a bit, decided I'd make it my 30, but holy hell did I end up regretting that. Got hung up behind a nasty wreck between a big truck and a passenger bus in a construction zone and watched 4 hours melt off my clock just sitting a half mile behind it. Finally got past that one and...wait for it...15 miles down the road, another 4 car pileup and 3 more hours shot. All because i had to take a piss. Oh well, cant drop this load until Monday anyhow and it's an open delivery.
Hope y'all are having a great weekend.
More later...

If the color of your piss has a silver lining, you are over hydrating.
Just sayin'...Sirscrapntruckalot, Airborne, fargonaz and 4 others Thank this. -
Look at it this way.
You stopped to take care of a nature call.
Nature returned the favor by NOT getting you in the middle of a incident.Airborne, whoopNride, austinmike and 7 others Thank this. -
1) Bosslemans in Grand Island Nebraska is a Pilot also. Still one of my favorite truck stops. There are a bunch of Bosselmans still but they sell Pilot Fuel... affiliated but not corporate stores....
2) cold brew is kick ###! Saying it's 'snowflake' is like calling moonshine 'snowflake' compared to Jack Daniels....
I like it with a touch of cream and no sugar... still do hot coffee in the morning. But a iced cold brew in the afternoon is awesome.
Best coffee I ever had was Cuban coffee down in Miami.... liquid crack!! Lol
Good to see you back on the road 69!!! So, so sorry to hear about your mom....Airborne, Al. Roper, Broke Down 69 and 3 others Thank this. -
So I picked myself up an interesting load but due to time constraints at the shipper, I can't load until tomorrow. Didn't know the Army worked on a schedule like that...and after all the grief they give us Navy guys for being lazy...lol. Going to pick up a couple up-armored Humvees and jockey them over about 300 miles to a railyard. DoD loads are a nut I've been trying to crack for awhile so here's my chance.
Many thanks to @cnsper for backstopping me on a securement question.
More later...Airborne, Al. Roper, Scooter Jones and 8 others Thank this. -
You gonna have to tarp them hummmmmers?
Have had some require that. Not sure why, just did. -

Don't remember too much about week 4, but I can sum up week 5 in one word: Texas. At some point in week 4, I ended up with a 53 foot flat bed. Trainer and I were told on Friday wash the trailer, have it inspected at the main terminal here in Des Moines, take it to John Deere, and swap with a 48. Get ready to pull into JD, and we get our next load: two cotton stripper heads. On a 53 footer. So, parked up at the trainer's place that night, went home for my weekend, and took off Sunday for Lorenzo, TX, with a second drop in Big Spring. Then bounced to Rotan for a load of Nationals Gypsum, where they wanted nothing to do with a 53 footer. So waited for a live load and drove to Houston. Made it almost to the north side of Fort Hood before I ran out of time. Next we went to the Owens Corning in Houston for shingles. And I got the Pink Panther theme stuck in my trainer's head. His freak out was epic, and was possibly the best laugh I had all week. Get the load on, and turn around and drive all the way across the state to Midland, then back to Rotan. Fortunately, we did a drop and hook, and went up to the KCKS area. Didn't know if we'd ever get unloaded, because of the rain, but they finally got around to it. The. We picked up a load of wooden spools, and back to the house.
Yesterday, I came up with a couple guys from Texas who swung through BFE Missouri to pick me up, get to the company owned hotel, and "you are in a roll out bed with two other guys in the room. Thank the company for over booking the driver side of the hotel." Tested out today, and decided my new (to me) truck is way more comfortable. So here I lay in the peace and quiet, with no CPAP machine running in the back ground.Airborne, Lepton1, Panhandle flash and 5 others Thank this. -
The ones I had to tarp, only needed the cabin covered.
Not sure if they had equipment inside or not. We did not get inside, they loaded and locked. When we made delivery, they had people to unload them.Airborne and Broke Down 69 Thank this.
