That is tough. Today, there was work going on in the docking area and it kind of hosed up my line. One of the guys who unloads just stood there literally tapping his foot, waiting instead of coming out and being another set of eyes to help me see around a blind side obstacle. I finally blew my stack at hime and he scurried off. Took about 2 minutes to hit the door after that...lol.

Not that long ago i hauled a full load of monster truck parts. June i think. All the years I've lived down here and had no idea their headquarters was right up the road.

Made it back home this afternoon having left on Monday afternoon. Going to deliver in morning and take another long weekend, why not? ;-)

November was my best month so far as an owner operator. I'm very thankful for the provision. As I was pulling off the fwy this afternoon in my hometown in my beautiful shiny truck & trailer, it was almost surreal in a way.

I would of never dreamed I would be doing what I do now just a short 9 years ago when the rug was pulled out from underneath me economically & vocationally.

God has a sense of humor, He turned me into a truck driver ;-)

Commendable, for sure, man. Works for some, not for all, not for many anymore. Glad @Broke Down 69 found his niche for now.....! Kudos, Scooter! :)

The reason it doesn't work for many anymore is because anymore not very many are willing to put the effort in.

If you are willing to work, and got just a little brain power, there is a lot of money to be made out here.

I'll tell you what, the physical side of it a lot of guys can do. But there's just not that many who are willing to put in the mental side that running a business requires. Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result is insane.

I have a buddy who is leased on to a companies authority. Paying premium price for the leased company truck, trailer & insurance. Getting nickeled & dimed to death.

He complains to me yesterday about doing a 1,000 mile 45k lb lumber run to Los Angeles for $1,125. That's right, $1.12 a mile for 2 days of work. His operating cost for that truck are at least $1.12 a mile BEFORE he gets anything. He worked 2 days for nothing!

200 miles of that run were deadhead. You know how he described the deadhead? He said he had to spend $60 to go pick the load.

When I asked him how he figured running 200 miles in his truck only cost him .30 a mile, he said that's what he figures he spent on fuel.

When I pointed out that he didn't just pay for the fuel. but the truck, trailer, insurance, wages, benefits, wear & tear etc, etc, etc., he just replied he was already too bummed out and didn't want to deal with it.

Yeah when i said willing to work i wasnt talking about physically driving. Any monkey can drive a truck. It takes mental work to make that truck profitable.

I find it very humorous when I here some young buck claim “ I’ve been driving for XxxY company for a year now, well I’m gonna buy me a truck and run for myself”
Running a truck is a lot of work.
