Know a number of people running in various types of lease operations. Some are on a purchase plan, others it is a short term rental of a tractor others own or are purchasing a tractor outside of the corporate program.
Most are doing well, those are the ones who went into the program with full knowledge of what they signed on to.
The ones with visions of “ I do what I want and gonna make the big bucks” and all the rest of the delusions are or have been in trouble or have turned in the equipment and are now back in a company truck or have left trucking altogether. The sad part about some of these, is that they blame the company for the problems.Oxbow, Highway Sailor, spyder7723 and 2 others Thank this. -
I ran a spreadsheet for a guy I know this morning that is leased on to a companies authority. He gets "90% of the load". I put this together for him based on his figures. He's getting hosed.

Mind you, he's left with .54 per mile to pay himself, taxes, retirement, etc.
The truck is on a 5 year lease program with a $30,000 residual. That's an all in $180,000. The trailer payment is a rental charge.Last edited: Dec 2, 2017

I debated posting that spreadsheet here. However, I figured it might help a starry eyed potential lease operator who really doesn't have the resources or know how to accurately determine what he's getting himself into.
One of the sadder parts about those numbers are the amount of miles that have to be run consistently in order to even end up with .54 a mile.Feedman, Oxbow, spyder7723 and 3 others Thank this.
