%9 deadhead is probly a little short. I tried very hard this year but am still at %21 deadhead. Maybe it's easier with a van to cut it? How dose that number look at %20?

He does run van. That was the number he gave me, more or less...I plugged that number in to primarily show him what happens to an average rate when you actually include the deadhead miles.

That is one area where L/O & O/O can deceive themselves on the numbers, by not including the deadhead miles. Or, by downplaying what the actual costs really are.

Scooter, was that the OOIDA sheet?.
They have a good one with all the most common catagories for operations.

So I look at that spreadsheet.

No, it's a spreadsheet that I created for myself. Mine has a lot more detail especially related to wages, benefits, payroll costs, etc, as I operate my business as an S-Corp.

I really didn't didn't want to bog him down with too much detail and only wanted to give him a snapshot of what it really looks like for him.

A lot of lease carriers have similar numbers, they only disguise them in different ways. It's like a numbers shell game with a lot of these companies, unfortunately, most of those that sign on to the program don't have enough business sense to decipher and analyze the numbers.

    Ignorance is bliss...?

The only saving grace, if you want to call it that, is the truck monthly mileage maintenance withholding. The trucks are factory warrantied on the big stuff 4 years/500k miles. As long as it holds up and there aren't too many repairs, I guess he could save up enough to pay off the residual at the end of the lease, maybe.

The wife did a very detailed load sheet for me.
Covers just about every aspect of income generators.
Management really despises it. Has over 10 years worth of data in it. They realy don’t like when I call and say the rates not right on the load, they know I have a long history to compare to.
