So, as many, if not most of you know, I've wanted to move up to the ranks of O/O for some time now. Went to Montana with that plan but that was a complete and total fiasco. I made a mistake in judgement, learned a hard lesson and moved on. Thanks to @bzinger I landed with a company that really knows how to treat drivers, and for that I am in his debt.
So, what does this have to do with being an O/O, you ask? Well, Morehouse occasionally puts trucks up for sale and last week I spoke with one of the owners to let him know I was interested in buying. He told me trucks would be up for offer around May or June but spent nearly an hour outlining how they worked out the deals. To say that their terms were fair would be a colossal understatement, so we shook hands and agreed to get together again when they were ready to move some trucks.
This morning, I was puttering around the shop while some maintenance was being done on my truck when our head of safety calls me over. Well, when the safety guys start calling, its an attention getter to say the least, but he asks how interested I was in getting into my own truck a little sooner, than May or June. Only slightly less than a weekend of wild sex with Jennifer Aniston I told him.
He tells me that a truck was available, a KW T660, with less than 100k on a rebuild, fresh clutch assembly...it's a ten speed...and was owned by a driver that took really top notch care of his equipment. Went out, looked it over, took her for a little drive and really liked it. So come the first of January, I'm taking the plunge. Pretty excited about the opportunity and am going to work my tail off to make it work.
So what appeared to be a setback, ended up being the best thing that's happened to my career so far. Of course I'll keep y'all posted.
More later...

Straight cash, homie.
They offer very fair terms to finance, but I've decided to just drop cash for it. Plain fact is, for what I'm giving for the truck, I figure all I'm actually paying for is the rebuild and fresh gearbox...the rest of the truck is free.whoopNride, Oxbow, Lonesome and 8 others Thank this. -
Cash is king.

Going to be at the yard tomorrow, I'll snap a couple pics and post them. She needs a good cleaning, but we all remember how @bzinger showed us that it might look rough now, but some sweat equity...and a case or five of Bud Light...can bring it back to a beauty.
Oxbow, bzinger, Vic Firth and 1 other person Thank this.
