Interesting day. Headed out of Mellen early this morning planning to run the wheels off it and was doing a fine job of it...until I stopped to get a bite to eat and fuel up. Pumped out 536 in 7 hours and 50 minutes, and was feeling pretty sure of another 700 mile day. Came out from eating and saw something odd at the back of my trailer so I went back to check it out. As you all know I've been running through a lot of snow and I knew I was pretty caked up under my wagon, but I had no idea that everything under my bumper would come.off at once. What I saw was a block of ice around a foot long and eight feet wide lying under the bumper of.my trailer. One for the books I'm thinking but not anything worth getting excited about. Then i decided to look under the trailer to see if there was anything else about to come loose and that's when I saw it...the ice had ripped loose the connections on all my right side lights and pretty much destroyed all the plugs and connectors. Well, I can't fix all this mess so into Loves service bay it went and with it the rest of my day. I'm 748 miles from the yard and it doesn't seem likely I'll make it home before Monday...just another day in the life of a truck driver...lol.
Hope y'all had a good day.

Better to catch it there instead of DOT catching you and putting ya OOS till the super expensive service truck shows up...
Airborne, Big Don, Crusader66 and 3 others Thank this. -

Gotta get you some repair supplies. Be sure to get the heat shrink connectors though. You will thank me later on that. Also get some air line splices. No sense in calling a service truck or hitting a shop for a cheap part you can install.
I got this from Walmart and I have all that stuff in there, including fuses. Wirenuts are just something that I had so I threw them in there. They will work in a pinch to get me home.Airborne, 4mer trucker, ncmickey and 3 others Thank this. -
A full service kit is always a good thing idea.
carry bulbs, fuses, circuit breakers, a few choice relays as well. All sorts of electrical connectors, splices and related stuff. For some things the low temp solder splices are the best.Airborne, Broke Down 69 and Lepton1 Thank this. -
If you did stop... just an fyi... A handful of snow rubbed on a warm windshield works wonders...Airborne, Lepton1, Ruthless and 1 other person Thank this. -

I guess that the snow has left us for now. Not going to melt off with high temps of 30 degrees for the next several days.
had to wash the truck three times in the last 2 weeks.
now it needs it again.Airborne and Broke Down 69 Thank this. -
Well, I'm safety ensconced in a very nice hotel room, waiting for a Hooters girl to get off work and join me, so I'll catch you up.
I'm tired.
There, all caught up. I was going to go home to see my young 'uns, but strep throat is loose and I'm particularly vulnerable to that bacteria, so I have to stay away for a couple of days to make sure I don't get sick.
Dam heartbreaking to have your youngest wanting you home but knowing you can't go and chance getting sick yourself...bloody rough business sometimes.
Hope y'all are doing well and making money.
More later...Airborne, Pintlehook, Panhandle flash and 3 others Thank this.
