I really liked running all the state and US routes.
some great scenery, the little Mom N Pop places.

Once up on US 2, about the Idaho/Montana border,
pull over for a few and watched a mating pair of Bald Eagles and one of their juveniles snack on a road kill deer. While I have seen them in flight, you never really get the perspective of how big they really are. From about 25 feet, its clear they are some big birds.

I was riding with my trainer a few years ago from Wyoming to ND on US85... beautiful open grasslands for miles and miles... nothing but cattle and antelope
Then I saw a oven with the door open on the side of the road.... with a sign on it....
    It said 'open range'
    I laughed for a 1/2 mile.....
Not that it's spectacular like the Grand Canyon or breathtaking like the mountains in Colorado....
But so different from where I grew up...
    Love it!!!!

The thing I forgot to mention, some of those back roads are in really good condition. Really nice roads.

If you ever get the chance to run west out of
Laredo, try runnng up US83 to US90 west, comes out in Van Horn, TX.

A very scenic ride. good roads too.
