I hit the road at noon after my customary 3 day weekend off. It was snowing over the southern Oregon passes, including the Siskiyou Pass, however, nothing was sticking by that time of the day.

Set up for the night in Corning and will roll down to L.A. tomorrow for a Tuesday morning drop and reload for WA.

I tell ya, it's like stealing candy from a baby ;-)

Last year while driving another man's truck I lost major air psi, due to a faulty air dryer. I was in Midland, TX. I rolled into a shop, armed myself with a PDF download of the air system and consulted with the mechanic.

In the '07 FL Century Classic the air dryer was inside the front of the primary air tank. It was toast. The mechanic did an ingenious work around by installing an air dryer in front of the tank.

    Problem solved, right?

Fortunately I was back in Midland a month later when I developed a MAJOR loss of air. ALL EIGHT of the connectors to that new air dryer were leaking badly. I instructed the mechanic how to cut and sandpaper the ends of the hose before inserting them in the new connectors. After he did it the right way the weren't any air leaks from the air dryer.

Ok, this may irk some people but I gotta have my say here.

Had a stink wagon pull in right beside me last night around 2300. Driver gets out yeehawing at the top of his lungs and begins to generally disturb the peace, such as it is in a truck stop.

My question is this. Why in the Blue Hell do bull haulers regard themselves as some sort of elite in the trucking industry? Every single one I've ever met is loud, smelly, dirty and arrogant. If you think refers are annoying let one of these jackwads park upwind of you.

Now this guy is blowing up the CB extolling himself as all that is man. Jeez, what a nimrod.

Ok, that's my rant for this morning.

You've met the wrong ones. Every segment has jackwads. You wouldn't want the rest of the industry to think all us flatbedders are like swift and western express drivers would ya?

Absolutely not. However, running reefer in the beef patch and flatbedding across the West has put me in contact with a lot of these cats and what I described is the norm in my experience...maybe I've just been unlucky.

That's the young guys. The older ones that have been doing this more than a minute are the best hands you could run across.
