How is it that any children's lives were endangered if perhaps there were no children present? We don't know that.
If we're going to tar and feather somebody, I think it's better to do so based on the facts at hand.

The ticket itself really shook me up but this tread is plain scary. I regret my wrongdoing, this is my first violation AND I am not trying to excuse myself or add more fuel to the fire but I was not at a school zone yet… the school zone started at the next block, lights were not flashing and school hadn’t started yet. So I was at a red light waiting to make a left from the left lane, I turned and there was a van on the right hand side it was not even two minutes from the time I made the left and accelerated that the cop appeared in front of my car passing the van, I am surprised he was not run over by the minivan, everything happen so fast. Despite it all I am following Grumppy’s advise, I am going to fight it and hope for the best. This happened for trying to avoid I-95, and take the back streets instead to avoid traffic.

You need an attny that knows the ADA, what works in that court. Sometimes the officer has to agree to a reduced charge, non moving violations are not so easy as they used to be. The whole deal will probably be worked out in the hallway, that's when you had better be prepared with alternative reduced charges.
Be prepared, impress upon your attny how much this affects your livelihood and be sure he understands it. Alot of attnys are lazy and if you don't tell them what you want they'll sell you a bill of goods on the best you can expect.
Some local courts can let the charge stand but make sure the state never knows about it, you pay the fine and everyone is happy. If you can cut a deal where you're on some probation period and the charge is dropped, good deal, most courts never follow up and the charge never gets posted.
I'd play the heart card, you're a caring hard working father who made a mistake and doesn't need this offense reducing your ability to provide for your family.
Postponing the court date for months can sometimes work whereby the officer won't be able to show up or he'll forget the details but this backfires to a degree because on your record the charge goes by conviction date, not the offense date. If you're convicted it's on your record that much longer.
This is a court, has nothing to do with right or wrong, go outside, look at which way the flag is blowing, that may decide your fate. -
It is a traffic citation, not a court citation nor is he giving evidence.
Please explain this one. -

Yes man, go and fight the ticket. It is always worth going to court. with money anything is possible especially in civil cases court, prosecutor might offer you no points violation ticket, you pay 2-3 times more and you have no points violation. I don't know which state you live in but I believe there will be some no point negotiation with prosecutor, just go and find out.
