Mine are too. Easy way to see if one was sold "legal" because the DOT will be very high compared to the MC.
Inactive DOT#'s are never re-used.

 

Are you saying that once the MC numbers disappear in October we will be able to buy a DOT number from a private company?

 

Same here and I think it’s because we went for interstate authority. Just DOT numbers are given out to interstate authority’s..my understanding of it anyways.

 

Can buy a separate entity. Can't buy a personal name or a DBA under a personal name. Same as it is now. Doing it legally.

 

Need a DOT for intrastate in most states or if your weight/hazardous/fall under any fed regulations.
