Hi. So I picked up a load from shipper. about 100 miles into the load i get a call from broker saying they loaded wrong load on the truck and to go back. here is the kicker, they don't want to pay me for extra miles. so i drive 100 miles and i have to come back 100. that's 200 extra miles.

This broker is TQL by the way. so anyhow. broker doesn't want to pay any money for their own fault (shippers fault) he is literally cursing and yelling at me.

What can I do. If I had my own way I would just drop this current load somewhere in the trash and forget about this whole thing.

    Please advise guys. Thank you

I wouldn't move until you had a revised rate confirmation for at least $300 extra (if van). Shipper should eat it if their mistake...

Now if your bills say deliver to a different address than your rate con, you should have caught that and you eat the miles...

will there be any legal issue? because i've heard that they can sue you for holding the load?

which is idiotic, because they can hold out payments and this kind of stuff but I can't do anything?

I'd park it and wait for the new rate confirmation. I just bent a broker over yesterday for giving me the wrong pickup address. Charged him $200 and only ended up doing an extra 16 miles.

CHR did this to me on a load of recycled aluminum. Load was 10,000 lbs short of what it was supposed to be. Shipper loaded it, scaled it, and sent me down the road. CHR Chicago branch calls when i'm 20 miles down the road. Go back! I'll give you $50 extra dollars! Sorry sir but I agreed to a certain rate per mile and $50 doesn't cut it. In order to cover the extra miles and be the exact rate per mile I agreed to and booked with you it will take an extra $160. Oh he got mad as a hornet and claimed it was rediculous and I should just go back. I told him it wasn't so flippant as just hopping in a car and driving across town, that trucks are expensive to be driving around gallivanting everywhere because some idiot didn't do their job. I flat out told him I will go back when he covers the extra miles at the rate we agreed on, or nothing, no negotiations otherwise. He called his customer then calls me back and said to just go make the delivery and forget it. NEVER go back to a shipper for THEIR screw up unless they compensate you equally, or even more so for the loss of HOS, tell them tough ****! Not your fault or your problem. They agreed to a certain rate and can't go back asking you to run extra miles for less, unless you wimp out and do it.

I would return the load and then go get another load from a decent broker. This is just one more horror story about TQL.

I took a load for CHR and got to receiver. After many phone calls and some frustration I had to take the load back to shipper.
Got the same rate as I got going to receiver. Awesome for me, it was 30 miles from home!

I've done the same,.. I did not allow them to reload me until I got the new confirmation. I held the wrong load strapped to my bed while the other truck it was meant for was banging on my door cursing me.

I had gone out about 100mi just like you. Only he assured me they would add the mileage to the rate and have it to me before I got there. When I didnt have it I called and talked with a different guy because the one who originally was on mine had gone home,.. and new guy refused to revise the rate sheet. We exchanged a few phone calls,.. they threatened to back charge me blah blah blah. I told him to pound sand,. If I didnt have my revised rate sheet I was taking their load to the scrap yard. (I was bluffing,.. but enjoyed the frustration and anger it gave him) He was fuming.

I got my revised rate sheet,.. got reloaded and finished the run. He said I would never do another load for them ever again and have me black listed.. and yet I've done at least 10 - 12 more loads through them over the last year. This was a Landstar flatbed load.

Matter of fact,.. I got to get one up on them last winter when the delivery address changed from Nj to CT. From where I was in PA, it was only a 50mi difference to the destination. I lied and said I would have to cancel a reload waiting for my in NJ and with the snow storm coming in,.. I dunno man. Then the fatal mistake,. he out right told me he was desperate. So I said I need another $750. Said he had to call me back. 15 mins later I was emailed with an additional $750 on my new rate sheet. My wife said I should have told them $1000. LOL
