Either charge $300 for layover, or take the freight to a warehouse and let them hash it out with the receiver... if YOU did what you were contracted to do (arrive Thursday), then THEY (receiver and broker), have no contractual "right" to hold your truck for nothing... I've run into this many times... FIRST: Show up at the receiver and force them to reject the load (have your cellphone video rolling); THEN, take it to a warehouse, have them offload the freight, and ONLY authorize release AFTER all linehaul and storage fees have been paid.

as long as you have it in writeing that you were supposed to be there on thursday then ask for 250.00 layover.

how much does it cost you to sit for a day? insurance costs? fuel to stay comfortable? maintenance on that idle time? truck payment? and other fixed expenses. how much do you feel you should make after expenses for being stuck in a truck stop for a day vrs hauling your next profitable load? $50 $100 around $250 a day is probably fair to both parties. but only you know what it costs you to sit that day

i dont think a $250 or $300 layover is near enough.... just my 2 cents

i called broker he said hes gonna get me some extra money but dont know how much. had to cancel a load today. hope i dont get stuck over the weekend

If someone wants my truck to sit, it's $500 a day.
cetanediesel and MNdriver Thank this. -
It is up to you to check delivery times and dates. I prefer making my own delivery schedule. A shipper will often accept a load early if you call them. It is rare that I have called a consignee who would not take a load earlier than was expected. Some won't, but many will.
MNdriver Thanks this. -
Some consignees need a 24 hour scheduling notice to make changes. Thursdays loads are planned on Weds. Just how scheduling works unfortunately.
But it's still on you to confirm the appointment times.
