I Have a question. What percent of the loads you haul come from brokers/3PL services and what percent come from direct shippers. I read somewhere that most come form direct shippers, but I usually only hear of brokered freight on this forum. Any idea why?

nobody wants to talk about their direct shippers for fear that someone else will come in and compete for the business. that's why you don't hear it mentioned on here much.

Having a good, solid direct shipper contact is the mother lode, usually. I learned a long time ago brokers are a neccesary evil at times, but they are called " BROKERS " for a reason. If I had to depend solely on brokers, I would not attempt trucking.

How can you even find direct shippers? Are there databases you rely on or through loadboards?
