You must have one of those magic brokers.

This week I had a customer out of L.A. wanting to ship to MI. He’s a cheap ### like many but needed it moved. He had approved $5900 and I was able to find a really good truck for $5500. (I know, not the typical 20% heavy hitter profit) I call back to confirm everything and he says cancel the truck, I have a company that can do it cheaper. Little bit later it’s posted with Landstar for $4000. :facepalm:

Long story short he called back the next day and wanted us to move it again. The “other company” had failed.

 

Hopefully u quoted them for 7k the next day just for wasting ur time... what is with it and all loads getting cancelled in la area? That happens to me all the time. Had my load cancel on me to go home for thanksgiving, broker decided not to tell myself or my agent so i didnt find out til i showed up to the shipper.. I never have any problems anywhere else. Out of the 10 or so cancel loads i had this year all but one of them was in la or so cal region. All of them last minute and all of them no cumminication. Obviously they found somebody cheaper is all i could think of

 

I know what you mean buddy. The “freight game” out in CA is rampant with fraud it seems. Both truckers trying to double broker or double load as well as brokers trying to double and triple broker. Then like in my case you have customers who are blown away with the rates right now and don’t have it priced into their own business dealings. Then they are jumping all over trying to pinch pennies.

So anyway, after he came back we said, now it’s $6400. He says ok fine. Next morning I find a truck at $5900 and before getting too far ahead of ourselves, we call to confirm. “Oh, um.. the end customer moved this themselves last night. It’s been picked.”. Are you kidding me?

In any event I told my guys that next time he sends anything over to just put minimal effort into it. Essentially firing him as a customer without firing him officially. I’m not going to have my company poorly reflected on due to stupid bs. I’m sure 10 other companies will trip over themselves to deal with him.

 

But hey, as it was pointed out to me not long ago, we don't talk money on these threads. Right?

 

Since you’re still learning, let me help you out here. Posting a screen shot of posted rates to try and help you legitimize calling someone a liar shows your ignorance. You can find the same lousy posted rates in ANY market. It doesn’t mean that that is all that anyone is able to get.

Here’s another tip for you. Instead of concentrating on being negative towards someone because they are doing something that you apparently can’t, you should try and pick those little nuggets of information out that can lead you to similar results.

You have no clue what I do in revenue or anything about my financial background. I don't come on here continously spewing numbers trying to outdo everyone with my nose pointed towards the sky.

I certainly don’t have a big enough backhoe to pick up those nuggets of BS found on the wave of channel 8. Even if I did, I surely wouldn't want them, you can have them tough guy.
