I keep my "heaviest" empty weight ticket with truck ppwrk

To the OP, suck this one up, do a right thing (as described in above posts) and you will never get in trouble again.

PS: I don't care how much load pays, I tell dispatch anything over 43k has nothing to do with me, even though I can handle up to 45. Not many places count the tare (pallets) into the equation. And from what I've seeing so far, heaviest loads pay the least.

"Industry Standard" is brokerspeak. Ignore that trash. As mentioned above 80k is the only true standard number to be concerned with. You definitely need to scale all your combinations and know them or write them down somewhere. Brokers often don't put accurate numbers when they aren't direct with the customer. Be on the look out for that too. You might also want to get into the habit of scaling each load before hitting the road and getting caught overweight by DOT.

Need to be careful with air scales when loading on non flat surfaces. Also if your someone who likes to use the trailer emergency brake and tractor parking brake at the same time.
If you’re not on flat enough ground for the truck to stay still with all breaks released use wheel chocks on the steer axle.
I also would just tee in a good quality pressure gauge into the suspension line use a liquid filled gauge and or a quarter turn valve to isolate it when driving.
McDaniel controls makes some very nice all stainless liquid filled gauges and they can usually be found for cheap on ebay if you get ones that are 3-4 inch diameter you should be able to get very accurate weights. You will need to make a table of air pressure and weight to keep with the truck. We did this on several trucks and trailers at a previous employer and could usually get with 100 lbs of 80k when we got to the terminal. Doing this yourself will be much cheaper than any of the commercial air weigh systems.

    God prefers Diesels Thanks this.
