    It's 7 days, not 5. And it's max 50 hours.

Do you log it exactly like you do it? Or do you have more than 50 hours invested to meet your goal of 50 on duty hours? That’s what I’m getting at. You scoffed at someone for leaving a situation that didn’t meet his financial requirements but then turn around and say that your monthly goal is basically the same as his. $100 per hour.

My health is more important than maximizing revenue. Trucking is a very unhealthy occupation.

    It's pretty close.

I scoffed him for been unprofessional. When you make a commitment, you have to keep it. I didn't see the broker been dishonest to him.

You think $2200 for 550 miles is cheap? Edit: Apologies. I didn't notice it was multiple days.

Commitments are supposed to be reciprocal. You see him being unprofessional and I see him not want to be ####ed over by the broker and shipper. Where's the professionalism in the shipping department to alow for this mess in the first place?
Where's the professionalism of the broker for not wanting to pay commensurate detention?
Unprofessional behavior would be for him to leave the site for a better paying load or if his buddies asked him for a fishing trip, this here had nothing to do with professionalism but not tolerating B.S.

As a matter of fact, I hold it against you for wanting to put up with this B.S. and thinking that's an acceptable part of trucking. If everyone left the site like he did, those indolent shippers and receivers would quickly learn not to waste carriers time with impunity.
I have to put up with that BS too.
But I hate myself for being so helpless in avoiding it, especially at deliveries. But it never crossed my mind that's the part of professionalism. To me it is a part of being played.

That's right. $100 of detention after 1 hour of appointment should be just as mandatory as your logging your wait time as OnDuty and not as InSleeper - even though you spend your time there while being loaded.

    Correct.

I am there to do my job, and when he asked for it to be done. That means being ready for me to.
He knows it, likes it, and understands.

About 6 years ago I was late delivering a yarder for him. But I didn't charge him for the move when I did deliver the next day, and also hauled his processor up there for free. Its a 2 way street, if I'm late, guaranteed I'll make it up to the customer.

If a well dressed and groomed, clean plumber, shows up with a set of tools punctually at a housewife home to fix a toilet leak, but she tells him to wait till she's done having coffee with her neighbor, as the very sight of a plumber inside the house would be esthetically questionable, then the plumber's departure would be more than understandable, if not expected. The unprofessional part would be if he asked to join the ladies' coffee talk.

I don't know how the regulations are where you're at, so asking. You're allowed to run 7 days a week?

Here that will get you in a heap of trouble.
