No. In this case it's 2 different MC#'s. More often than not, it will be different MC#s. Different locations. I've seen it where it's been 2 completely different company names (one is a carrier, one is a broker) but they have the same ownership and occupy the same office space. There's always something tying the carrier and broker who re-posts your loads together - whether it's common ownership or a phone number, an address - something. It's sad that (in this day & age) you kind of have to trick the driver into telling you the name on the side of his truck (just to make sure you're loading who you think you are). IE: "Hey, sir - what color truck do you have and what's the name or DOT# on the door? Because I'm going to be bringing your pick-up ppwk over to you - and I need to be able to find you." type thing...

I need to sign up for that. Tks!

As a broker, you almost have to trick the driver into telling you what's on the side of their tractor (what name/DOT#). Make the driver think you're going to be bringing his ppwk over. Doesn't always work, though. Gotta make sure you know what carrier your load is (actually) being picked up by.
As a carrier, you need to see how long the broker's authority has been active. Most of these scumbag scammers have been in business for just a short time. SAFER Web - Company Snapshot -
I stand corrected. He DOES post on DAT. In fact, he has a load posted right now:
CANTON, OH to CHARLOTTE, NC. 12m $2,200 $4.81*/mi How about that!?Siinman, D.Tibbitt and Short Fuse EOD Thank this. -
Put in rate con that specific pictures must be taken within x amount of time .
Like side of passenger door with company same and license plate.
This will help guard against bs.
Might sound like a pain but brokers have already demanded this of me before.
You have to protect youeself.Siinman, LoneRanger and LISAD&M Thank this. -
Exactly. And, any dispatcher can pretend the truck you're loading is the pic he's texting you (when you think you're getting text from driver). it's a dirty game.Siinman Thanks this.

I guess when you do business with who you know it helps. May have to cut some profits, but you are safe when you know the outfit. Either way, you’ll end up paying. Can be said both for the carrier and the broker.
Siinman, D.Tibbitt, PPLC and 1 other person Thank this. -
Another random Google search (this time under Quick Transport Solutions website) I see the same carrier with same DOT# / MC# but the location is......SHOCKER..... Texas - same state the brokerage is out of. NO Ohio mentioned. No California mentioned.....
