I will not ask anyone to park their truck or do anything to stop their cash flow but we all are suffering from very under paid load revenues. What I am suggesting for us truckers to do is to stick together and take one big bottom feeder brokerage company at a time and not haul any of their loads for a few weeks. I know that we cannot stop everyone from hauling for them completely but if enough of us pull together we can get the message across that we cannot survive on anything less than $2 a mile minimum which is still a very low rate IMO. With the power of the internet and also word of mouth we can pick a date for each of them.

do you think its the brokers dictating the rate or shippers who simply wont pay more? think about it, a broker is a keeping a percentage , the more the load , the more he gets. why would a broker haul try to book cheap loads.

everyone always blames the broker but if you think shippers are paying top dollar, think again.

If so the brokers need to tell the shippers that they need to pay more for the loads. How hard is that?We truckers have to go through the brokers for our loads and I never said the brokers were dictating the rates. The bottom line here is the truckers need more $$ PERIOD. Buy a truck and try to run it on a dollar a mile and see where it gets you.:biggrin_2552:

I kinda agree with you. But Im not asking anyone else to do anything, starts with yourself and quiet frankly , things dont work like that. Dont haul the cheap freight. Seems like I have to make 20 calls sometimes to get just 1 load, 20 calls to weed out the cheapos.
Hauling to haul will get you in trouble when you realise youre not makeing money to put back into your equipment or replace it.
Theres a couple of guys on here always preaching about getting good rates and sometimes even give advise as to how they get the good rates. Follow these guys.
Theres alot of people on here with alot of smarts.

on more than one ocassion, broker tells me what they can pay, I politely say thank you, I cant run it for that amount and they can call me back if anything changes.
If youre profesional , youll be surprised alot of times broker will call shipper, tell em they need more to move it & call you back.
Obviously theres alot of factors into this, supply and demand being one.

When rates are bad I protest by parking my truck. It has never had an impact on rates as far as I can tell but when freight volumes pick up I get back with it. Freight brokers have nothing to do with that it's a normal ordinary cycle. Too many trucks not much freight. This part of the year tends to get that way. Plan for it and be ready. Hustle when it's good rest up and relax when it ain't.

    Is this what you did?

Not all markets pay the least amount they can get some sucker to haul it for. Some are well into the $3/mi+ range. Just got to find lanes that work for you, and then turn that into steady business. If shippers are paying the broker a fat rate like you think they are of say $3 or $4 per mile and then trying to sell the load to you the trucker for $1 per mile, why don't you just go to the shipper and tell them you will haul it for $2.75?

blame the truckers hauling it for cheap.
if no one hauls it, rates will go up.
