I have become frustrated with the brokers posting loads from cities on the load boards then finding out the load is actually picking up and or delivering over a hundred miles from the post.I don't know if this is a new scam to get your interest in the load or they just want more exposure. The problem I have is that once I find out the real towns in the load I then know it's a shipper or receiver that I won't work with again,I guess maybe I answered my own question.

We've discussed this one a couple of times over in the broker forums, but there's a school of thought that some of my fellow brokers have that sometimes you need to post to widen the net of potential viewers, or that sometimes you want to obfuscate the p/u location in case there are other folks looking to shark your customer. It's not something I personally subscribe to, but that's the reasoning behind it.

I can see where posting a nearby city people have heard about (and might know where it is without having to look it up) would garner more interest than to name some podunk little town nobody has heard of. 100+ miles is a little extreme, though...for example say S/E of Effingham, IL rather than Dieterich, IL because everyone knows where Effingham is, and nobody has ever heard of Dieterich. If you post that same load as Chicago, though, you're full of crap.

Wait til they tell you they will pay you 4 bucks a mile from b to c. And when they send the load sheet it says pickup at a and deliver at d. And then you are the jerk for raising the point that is not a $4/mi load at all.

The only company I see consistently do this is TQL... Its annoying and when it's much farther away than what's posted I just hang up.

I have maybe seen a broker post something within 10 miles of the pick up or drop off like every once in a while.

But let's not kid our selfs here we all know its TQL. What a joke people even call that place. Total Waste Of Time.

For some reason the loadboards seem to allow the spamming of the postings with wrong information. I told DAT that one of the reasons I am canceling your loadboard is because if you take away all the fake posting then YOUR loadboard does NOT have more loads than anyone else as you claim. Its false advertising and they are just as guilty as the brokers.
