So, when working with a new broker, what sort of information will a broker give you access to? Would a broker give you access to whether theyve ever had someone take money from their surety bond? Will they give you access to all the loads they've brokered in the last X amount of time? Is this information even available? I'm really asking what information you can get about a broker's history other than a few references

you get access to a decent amount of information from the load boards. Free with a Member's Edge loadboard subscription gives you authority, credit, insurance, and general info. I believe ITS offers you broker credit for an additional fee.

Right, I've seen those, but can you ask a broker for even more data?

I'm sure they will not give you load history. Unless you hauled it, they're going to say it isn't your business. As for whether or not the surety has been hit, their insurance carrier or bond holder might be able to answer that.
