So, my younger brother jack-knifed his rig during a sudden downpour in Texas. He was subsequently fired from his company (PAM). Now, I know this may well be a blessing in disguise but, I'd like to know if he's still employable and who would hire him. I don't know what particulars you guys would need to know, if he ain't got no panties on when he spun out etc., but I'll try and be forthcoming as possible.

Seeing that its a jack knife, most companies would say major preventable if he was towed from the scene. Also, when they download the ECM Data and look at the speed he was driving at time at jack knife, they may say too fast for conditions as well. It will be kind of tough getting on with a reputable carrier for awhile. I would try a very small company with a few trucks, and explain to them what happened, and see if they would be willing to give him another chance

Outside of the companies internal review...Was he cited by the police? If so, what was the charge? Any other vehicles involved? How long has he been driving? Any other issues in his driving history that you are aware of?

How much experience does he have, and where does he live. I'm under the impression that most companies wont actually care about a jackknife. Truck didn't roll, no fatalities, could have been worse. As long as there isn't a history of accidents (more than 1) or lots of bad inspections, and he lives in a good area with a year or so of experience he'll land a job pretty easy.

Ok, so no other vehicles involved, no roll but he had to be towed. He has a year and a few months experience with no inspections (pure luck) and no accidents also he lives in Georgia. He got a ticket for "too fast for conditions" but our trucks are limited to 62-64 and the area that it happened at (mm60 i35, Lasalle, Tx) the speed limit was 75.

As for the cause of the skid, personally, I think he had the engine brake on and used the foot brake to come out of cruise control when the road started to get wet and lost traction.

We'd probably hire him, we're not the greatest company out there but we're not the worst. I think we're only hiring LP at this point.
