brown trucking company = hard to make a pay check

    $17.30 an hour is a joke for this industry. Hell, you can't make it on $17.30 an hour period in this current day.

    In the NE you cannot.

    Here in the south you do. It's not that expensive. (Cost of living) Wages actually top out at around 14.00 or so for a ready mix driver in J'Boro area.

    However, within the limitations of payroll, managing your expenses to maximize your savings out of any given load is best. I think a bowl of Chili would run you 6 bucks so you can still have savings.

    You won't catch me driving a truck for $17.30 an hour, much less $14. These companies need to get their crap together as far as pay or the revolving door will continue to spin. $17.30 an hour equates to $35,984 annual based on 40 hours a week. 35k annual now days is poverty wages even for the south. It takes a minimum of 50k for a family to live off of. Even at that, your just barely getting by.
