Do you know how recent the otr experience needs to be? I've done a lot of it but where I've been working is regional. Thanks for any info you have.

 

Most companies want it fairly recent. Like in last week.

You can go back 3 to 7 years provided you account for gaps between employments. (Homeland Security post 9-11 requirement)

In my case, Ive got 30 years just on paper. But I have been away for almost 10 years now. There is absolutely no record anywhere that I existed. Tax records maybe, but those companies for the most part do not exist with the execption of about 3 in total. There is nothing left to verify or call. DAC is a total blank on my part. It never happened.

 

Left the house last Sunday at 1400 to get in position for that Monday morning and just got into my folks' place for a 34 a few hours ago. 3900 miles in 6.5 days.

Busy is an understatement.

 

Been sitting in Wheeling for the last 24 hours wondering if I want to make money or drink and watch football tomorrow. Decisions decisions.

 

Great thread. I’m hoping to join the team in January. I was wondering if everyone is still getting consistent miles during this time of year?

 

How is their hopper division doing ? Only asking cause I haven’t seen one on the road in a long time, and I saw on truckpaper.com they had hoppers for sale....

 

Plenty of miles if you are open to going North of I-40 in the winter, the snowbirds won't do as well this time of year East of the Mississippi. The freight is pretty consistent year round for end-dump.

I run an end-dump so I'm not an authority on hopper but they seem busy from what I've seen. Not sure how much hopper activity there is in IL this time of year. There isn't much grain to haul in winter but they have been hauling roofing granuals like crazy. Oakley bought a bunch of new trailers a few months ago and are now selling off the older trailers in the fleet.

 

Hoppers stay plenty busy but this time of year work is more concentrated west of the Mississippi. Roofing granules out of Little Rock go just about everywhere, but the biggest is to OKC or Dallas. Port 33 is still fairly busy too for this time of year compared to the past couple of years.

Ran another 3200 miles this week on tanks, but did sacrifice Thanksgiving to do it. Doing a 34 in warm Corpus Christi now and supposedly going back to Sulphur tomorrow so who knows where I'm going from there lol

 

Spent quite a bit of time down south and out west, and had only seen a handful of hoppers. Good to know they’re still running strong....

 

What would be the best tractor for end dump - both for maximizing payload and for getting in/out of facilities to get loaded and unloaded?
