They (Walmart) had something very similar to what you are suggesting directly across the road from the DC in Arcadia,FL. Great big gravel lot with one entry/exit point (though it wasn't a "controlled" entry/exit point). It didn't take long for drivers to leave their trash and other stuff in the lot. Walmart cleaned up the property, drivers trashed the place again, and Walmart closed access to the lot.

I live about 30 miles from that DC and, while there are a few parking spots in the area, you might be better off just staying in Montgomery.

I was at that one last week.....I noticed every 10 feet on the entrance road was no parking signs too.....They actually let me in the gate 3 hours early!
I still waited over 5 hours to get unloaded.....Geeze!

Yes sir. When a business puts signs up that close together, you get the idea they REALLY don't want you parking there. Kinda hard to use the "oh, sorry, I didn't see it" excuse.

The point is, Walmart has the cash to at the very least gravel large lots adjacent to their DC's to stage early arrival trucks. In most cases, walmart only utilizes about 50% of the acreage they buy for building and lot use, the rest is grassed and otherwise undeveloped. They could put in a "gate" to keep out other truckers from using the lot for their own use who aren't even delivering to Walmart. You could pull up and enter in a valid appt number to raise the gate and be allowed in. Then the driver should be able to call the guard shack to let them know they are there on-site in the event they can take the product in early, they can call.

I will write Walmart corporate with the idea, and I suggest others do the same. Walmart goes to great lengths to secure property in small-town USA, and in many cases the truck stop industry just can not justify the cost to build a truck stop nearby given they would probably sell little fuel and would only be used for staging use. And Hardees should not be expected to handle early arrival staging for Walmart.

Walmart don’t give a dam about drivers safety or nothing..you are a piece of meat in the seat..trucking companies don’t care either..Walmart Sucks and will always suck.. rt

Walmart could care less about drivers..they suck.. trucking companies know this..if you don’t show up they don’t care some other crap ### trucking company will fill your place,.
