The thing I like about -35 is the sun dogs in the morning in northern Mn. Sunrise is about 9 a.m., no wind, and you can see the frozen crystals in the air. It is like a frozen rainbow.... What I didn’t like was it hurts to take a deep breath, as you feel like your lungs are freezing up. And then sunset is at 3 pm.

I guess I don’t miss the sun dogs that much after all!

Three CDL's lost their outboard fishing motor on time off at the company sponsored pond behind the trailer yard. The first thumps his chest and over he goes. Comes up a minute later says that asthma is kicking him, it's too heavy. Second says aww Mein Gut physical shape and over he goes. Comes back up blue mein gott it's heavy. Third CDL takes a minute to extol the virtues of his lineage and over he goes.

The first two finally went over due to worry because Mr Third has been down way too long. They find him working really hard on the starting cord to get the motor going. =)

The past few days I've gone from Wisconsin to upstate New York and now back in Chicago. Got blown sideways from 40 mile gusts off Lake Erie and haven't been able to see the lines in the road the past 2 mornings.... and now the real storm is coming.

The weather man up north is crying about -60 windchills today that is coming.

I tell you what, that kind of cold can freeze children not yet grown inside the air passages within the hour and hurt them or kill him. Don't be taking them outside. And the adults? Stay inside. Those of you drivers too young to be that cold yet, run your engines at 1500 idle tonight. Fuel up before you do. Don't forget to point the tractor away from the wind direction if at all possible. It's going to be COLD. (As if you don't know...)

Have some blankets ready for the doors, sometimes in cold that bad, the door seals fail as the panels twist due to the temperature differences between you at 80 inside and -60 outside. A few inches of wonderful draft space is the result and you cannot get the cab warm then. 55 maybe if that.
