We ended up spending almost 24 hours waiting on the load out of Richburg, SC then delivered it to Covington, GA. It was a relatively short run that was followed by a return to Richburg to drop the trailer. It seems they are repeatedly needful of the DGL trailers we have been using. I was able to better back the trailer at our Friday return to Richburg. I got to do it twice since after I backed it up to where they wanted it parked, they changed the placement of it because they were completed with the trailer before it and wanted to load it. After the last drop on Friday, we returned to Laurinburg for the weekend. It was Terry's weekend home so I got to return to the Jamison for a quiet weekend of football and NCIS. Headed out at 6:00 a.m. to finish a delivery for another driver to Sanford, NC about an hour away.

Change one to the basic plan. The driver we were supposed to relay for never dropped his trailer. So we moved a couple of trailers for the yard and finally got a load plan around 11. We were to take a step deck to Richburg and live load for San Antonio, TX. We were able to load Monday late and over night at Rock Hill, SC. Tuesday we hit the road and were able to make 670 of the 1240 mile trip, I drove about 592 miles in a little over 10 hours and Terry drove an hour or so for me to eat and get a break. We stopped midway across MS on I-10. Have a good one.

I'm playing a little catch-up today and will pick up where I left off.
11/15 - We finished the drive to San Antonio and delivered 11/16; nothing too spectacular. We were expecting to possibly get a load out of Wichita Falls, TX going to Michigan. This would be ideal as it would drop me off in Ohio for Thanksgiving a couple of days early. Maverick made a commitment to get us home for Turkey day and they are good for their word - even though it worked out a little differently. We did go to Wichita Falls but the load was going to Tampa, FL. Laurinberg was skeptical about where we would go after delivering Monday before Thanksgiving so decided to have Terry drop me at Greyhound in Mobile, AL. Therefore Maverick made good on their promise and I got a long Thanksgiving Holiday. I am flying back to NC today and expect to eval out tomorrow. I'm not sure where I will get my truck but I'm excited about being in one on my own. Terry was a good trainer but being in a 5x8 foot box with anyone gets a little claustrophobic. Hope everyone had a great Holiday!! By the way, anyone flying to Fayetteville, NC BEWARE. There is a Fayetteville, ARKANSAS. Fortunately I caught that and made changes before I was wondering "what the heck am I doing in Arkansas". Of course it will be quite a while before my wife stops picking on me about that one.

Ah, Fayetteville, AR is just a figment of your imagination, gunnyt! j/k I think I have actually driven past it a couple of times but there is the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Other city names to be careful of are Melbourne (Australia, Florida, Arkansas, at least), Gainesville (Florida, Arkansas, at least), Jacksonville (Florida, Arkansas, at least) and Arlington (Virginia, Texas at least). There may be others but those are the ones that I know of for sure.

We made it back to Laurinberg and finished our evals. After doing a retrieval for a truck about 100 miles away we got our marching orders for Little Rock. We leave tomorrow at 0330 from the motel for a 0610 flight out of Fayetteville (NC). I hope our travels are better than a couple of friends who left for Gary, IN this morning. They got delayed, missed a connection and finally were on the shuttle toward Maverick after 12 hours of travel.
Getting up so early, hopefully will have its rewards. We should be able to be assigned our trucks, inventory and inspect them and be done early enough to get loads before the weekend. Since we have officially "graduated" from training status we don't get that pay. We need to start getting the miles for paychecks. I will try to keep up the "writin's from the road". God Bless.

What happened to the five that didnt make it? Was the issue about poor classroom performance or a medical issue with the DOT physical? I am very interested in Maverick, but am also very concerned with what people are being sent home for? The thought of quiting a current job and then being let go with no employment really concerns me.

Mostly Medical Issues got them sent home. Some needed items from thier doctor and had to go home and return later. The abilities test is not that difficult if you're in decent shape, but I think one or two may have fallen to that.

Congratulations. Now the true journey begins. My advice to you is take your time and plan ahead. You will find 90% of all the mistakes are done because you was in a rush. Drive safe and enjoy the ride. Congratulations once again.

Thanks for the encouragement sewerman. I have read you and Jim the Hut for a few months now and have learned plenty. I hope to meet up with you someday though glass and steel don't cross as often. I'm a big guy; 6'4", 230, with a Marine's bearing and usually wear an Indianna Jones style fedora.
