How hard is to build a truck from chassi up?. I am looking into building one in around 3 to 4 year timeframe.maybe earlier if time and money permits. Will it be registered salvage even if the chassi is brand new ?. And with current regulations can you even get a brand new chassi ? . I am looking into building a 285 wb rig with a cat 6nz 13 speed trans .40k rears and 13k front 80 inch kenworth sleeper with fabricated peterbilt cab and hood? Budget in mind is around $150k to $180k. i have a shop that is willing to help with the build for heavy lifting. Thank you

Start with an actually old title truck, change the frame rails if you want/need and go from there
I’d also go 2ws, 1lw(?) or 5ek over a 6Vampire, 77fib77, LoneRanger and 7 others Thank this. -

On something like this I think I’d start with the cab and use that for the VIN.
Keep in mind you can get those Cat crate engines again now. So depending on how much you want to spend you could find an old engine for a core and get a new crate engine.LoneRanger, Rideandrepair, Coffey and 5 others Thank this. -
