I'm curious about Bulk hauling. For whatever reason I've suddenly[??] got a "bee-in-my-bonnet" to check it out. I've run with these guys for years. I've listened and talked to'em on the radio. When I developed this interest I couldn't recall anything I heard. I don't know that I will pursue it, but I would like to know more anyway. Some of U help me out. Any and all info will be "preciated.

There are namy forms of bulk material, both dry bulk and liquid, that do not require any form of haz-mat placarding. All food grade products, like flour, sugar, liquid chocolate, corn syrup, etc are bulk products that are hauled without hazmat. Most plastics have no haz mat requirement. PolyVinylChloride (PVC) is a potential carcinogen, but it's so mild that it does not come up to the standards for placarding, at most requiring a simple dust mask.

Where I work we handle all kinds of products in dry bulk trailers, and the only people that need a hazmat are the folks who handle powdered lead. It is a placarded load, and there are some specific procedures and safety gear needed to handle it.

In liquids, there are more things with potential hazmat requirements, but there are companies that handle non hazmat loads only. Look around and ask about various companies, you may well find something to your liking.
