Wtf do you know about his physical condition?
Are you an athlete? ...I doubt it ! ..have another beer ya jerk .JoeyJunk, Shock Therapy, Oxbow and 4 others Thank this. -
You're right, I'm only 57, I should get in better condition.
Those staples in my shoulder holding the tendons in place that cost me about 20% of my range of motion in that shoulder, what was I thinking? I should have said, no, you can't have that accident here, go have that with somebody else.... Silly me, what was I thinking.
The rods and screws in my leg from when my step-father fell down the stairs and used me as a landing pad, breaking it in 4 places, so now I can't kneel or push off without some degree of pain? Honestly, even though it hurts like hell most of the time I do it I feel pretty good about that one since I was told I would never be able to kneel on that side again, but hey, I should have told him no, you can't land on me and break my leg, you need to wait to fall until someone else is standing here and break their leg... Silly me, what was I thinking.
The rheumatoid arthritis that's primarily affecting my hands? Yeah, the meds help but they don't make it as if you never had it. I'll call my primary right up and tell him to schedule me for that new-fangled not invented yet surgery that removes it from body for good... Silly me, what was I thinking.
Lose 15 pounds??? Okay, that one I can and do actually need to take care of, I did feel better at 188 than I do at 203.JoeyJunk, Shock Therapy, IH Truck Guy and 7 others Thank this. -

Delivered my last load and cleaned out the truck for the last time Friday night. I remember the first day on my own was a total cluster of things going wrong, and in true Bulkmatic fashion, so was my last.
It's like everything else in life I guess. The place isn't perfect my any stretch, but you could do a lot worse. I was treated well.
If you're willing to get out there and work you can make a killing, at least in my area and particular dispatch, but you also need to be able to roll with the changes, because there will be a decent amount of them. Once you prove that you can be where you are suppose to be when you are suppose to be there, you are pretty much left alone. Trucks were maintained well as long as you took the time to write things up, but laying your hands on a spare truck if yours went down often meant playing musical trucks every day because there aren't many around. Benefit package was good.
Downside is that you have to put up with the nanny-cam, but the way the company uses it with their point system for infractions and sending you clips of what they feel you have done wrong is enough to piss off the pope. Work schedules as far as starting times can be somewhat in flux depending on what loads you catch. Most of the days will be long, 12-14 hours. You will be out in the weather, no matter what that weather is. Some products unload like a breeze, others you will need to be beating on a trailer for a few hours. It can be a pretty dirty job.
Overall, I can't down the place. They gave me a shot when I didn't have a clue what pneumatic was and it turned out to be a good fit for 5 and a half years.Old_n_gray, Shock Therapy, bzinger and 8 others Thank this.
