Howdy all. I'm looking for a little recent info on Bulkmatic out of Griffin, IN.

I just filled out an application last night for them. I talked to the recruiter last Monday. She said I lived in a good area and my work and safety history were good. I just had a few questions:

What transmission do they run in their trucks?

Do they have pretty good power or are they pretty weak? I was hoping since it was bulk, they would have higher HP trucks than most of the larger van fleets.

What kind of home time can you expect? I live in Knoxville, so I'm not too far from the CSX transfer station here.

Do you have to park at a terminal/transfer station, or can you park at a truckstop when you go home? Like I said, I live relatively close to the Knoxville transfer station, so if I can park there and park my pickup while I'm out, that'll be o.k. with me.

What lanes would I most likely be running in from Knoxville? Just wondering which way I'd be heading most often. Probably really no way to tell. I'd say not too much west as there is a transfer station in Nashville.

Thanks for your help. I'm going to call the recruiter again Monday now that my app is in. Wish me luck!

I would, but I'm trying to find out some of this info myself. I only talked to the recruiter for like 5 minutes Monday.

I do know they pay 24% of the load, loading/unloading pay (don't know how much), detention, paid uniforms, paid boots, paid long term disability insurance, paid $40,000 life insurance policy, 10 days paid vacation after a year. Thats all I know.

Hopefully someone who works there now or who did will respond to this and fill me in on some more information.

Here's the pay as I know it

    1) 24% of gross is the base pay (30% on Sunday)

    2) 60$ to load a trailer

    3) 30$ to unload - this is to unload a trailer already at a facility. Unloading pay is part of the regular % pay

    4) Detention pay is 16$ an hour after two hours

    5) Breakdown pay is 16$ an hour starting at the time of breakdown

    6) No dead-head pay, although, sometimes you get out of route pay to shuttle a truck/trailer & it ends up being .28$ a mile

    7) 12$ a day reimbursed for meals if you're out overnight

8 )Paid hotels (if you're in a daycab or taking a 34hour restart in a sleeper truck)

    9) 10 paid vacation days after the 1st year, I think 3 or 5 years it goes to 15 days. Vacation pay is paid on/or about your anniversary date, so the week(s) you go on vacation, you don't get a paycheck two weeks later.

    10) Uniforms are paid (250$(?) when you hire and 100$ a year after that)

    11) 1 pair of boots per year

    12) They have got a paid long-term disability policy, but every driver I know that has used up their short term and are getting ready to transition to the long term disability are terminated.

    13) There are 6 paid holidays

    14) I'll think of more later, I reckon

sounds like you've been around awhile. Me too!!! The food allowance is 15 or 16 dollars a day.I think they just dropped the layover rate to 90 dollars. It's still not bad. The money's still there. Just got to go for it. p.s. I hate chicago and do a pretty good job of staying out of it.
