Let me go thru the steps first. This is all based on a MBN C15 in a 2004 Western Star which may have had a 6NZ tune installed at some point but I do not know....
I hooked up the downloader to the truck and it read the ECM info, then told me to hook it up to my PC and download the tuned file, which I did.
I then went back to the truck and installed the tune.
After the install, I turned the key off for 10 sec as told to do and started the truck. But now the check engine light is flashing and the throttle does nothing like it's dead. Also I cannot bump up the RPM's with the cruise control!!!
So i read the codes and I got a 25 (boost sensor) and a 56 (check customer or system parameters) ..... thing is, before installing the tuner, I let the truck run for 15min to charge the batteries and everything was fine, now it's all jacked up. Not sure what happened here???
I am having a feeling that the ECM may have been programmed before and the tuner read that file and it changed it to something my ECM/truck does not understand????
Anyways, they have no tech support on weekends aparently so I'm screwed.
Returned the truck to 'stock" but it still does the same thing. So i came home and re-downloaded the tunes and noticed it downloads a "stock" tune file from them, which is most likely not the right one![]()

Also, like I said, i have a feeling that the personality module may have been already changed at some point. Add that on top of a roadside breakdown on Thursday night, and a flat tire on Friday, it just finishes off my week properly.......But no biggie, I am at home for the weekend and my load on Monday was covered for me, so i will just sit here and watch some college football and drink my whiskey LOL -

The problem is the Personality Module Code from the downloader doesn't match what was in the ECM before you started. Once you change the Personality Module Code you have to generate passwords to get the truck to operate properly. If you can't enter passwords the engine will behave in the manner you've described.
BG should always read the PMC from the ECM and then match the PMC when you hook the downloader to your PC to upload the correct tuned flash file. The downloader didn't match the correct flash file when you plugged it into your PC to download the tuned file. Now not only do you have the wrong tuned file, but you have the wrong factory flash file to return it to stock with the downloader also. Until you program the PMC with factory passwords, the truck is dead in the water.
All you can do at this time is flash it back to the original flash file that was in the ECM before you started this project or have someone reprogram the PMC by being able to generate factory passwords. If you did had a 6NZ or 7CZ file in the ECM and don't know what it's PMC was before you started, you'll have to use CAT ET to program the PMC and when the screen for you to input the password comes up, you'll see what the original PMC was before you started. Then you can cancel this and flash with the correct PMC to get the truck to operate properly without getting in touch with BG or programming the PMC with factory passwords. If you go to a CAT dealer, they'll only flash the MBN flash file into the ECM that is in their records. You may also raise a concern with them if it did have a 6NZ or 7CZ file in it as they'll have to get factory passwords from CAT to flash the MBN file in it. -

Ouch, in other words.. do not flash BD in there unless you know exactly what CAT file is in the MBN's ECM. Hopefully you'll get it going there SHC a little snafu like that would put me in one helluva bind if I was under a load.

Got it all fixed.... took Justin 5 mins to have me change a code in the programmer and now she runs fine!!!

Going to start logging my experiences with it now. Will start a thread about it in a few weeks after I have some info recorded.
