I used to believe that Virginia had the worst roads ever. That was until I took this load to Texas. I 20 and Mississippi asked that be one of the worst built roads ever! It is easy for a driver whose cargo is visible while driving to make this determination. Is there possibly another road this?![]()

travelfraggle, trucker_101 and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
I-55 in Louisiana. You shouldn't need a mouthpiece to drive on the interstate.
MayhemAutoTransport Thanks this. -
I-20 is fun especially near Vicksburg, MS.
My absolute worst experience was US34 just west of US218 in IA. Now my personal stuff stays secure in the truck even on the worst roads. I got on US34 westbound and just got up to speed. There was a yellow sign that said "Caution Dip 55mph". The dip was about 15 ft long and about a foot deep. It was dark and you couldn't see it until you were on top of it.
No way was 55mph safe.
My TV flew out and hit the ground, my refridgerator flew out, all kinds of things flew off the top bunk and shelves. My dogs were lucky they didn't get hit. They still to this date look up in the air everytime I hit a bump, lol.25(2)+2 and MayhemAutoTransport Thank this. -
its funny I should find this thread. I just got back from a run down in South Texas (I pull flats). I had a load of casing pipe for the oil field. I had to turn off of a nice paved road onto a dirt and gravel road, as we do alot pulling flats in S. TX. Now this road, I believe it was Briscoe Ranch Rd, was only 20 miles to the rig. It took me 2 hours to go those 20 miles because of the bumpy, rocky road. On the way out it took 3 hours. I had company trucks passing me like I was sitting still, and I pretty much was. 7 mph max on these roads as I know what the aggressive driving on poor roads can do to a truck.
I am a company driver too but if my truck goes down I am out of money for that week or however long it takes to fix. So I like to think that I think like an owner op in the aspect that if you take care of the truck llike it is yours in the long run you will make more and have less headaches.
Also south of Catarina, TX on 83 there is a road, Espejo-Gates Rd, I believe. It is just as bad as the above road. -
The first few miles of I-78 into NJ used to be terrible, but they were recently repaved. That stretch of road would qualify you to ride in the rodeo, if you could stay in your seat for 8 seconds it was a miracle.
It seems to go in cycles, but Louisiana on I-10 and 20 and Arkansas on 30 and 40 are always near the top of my list. Springtime heaves across the Dakotas are not far behind.MayhemAutoTransport and travelfraggle Thank this.
