I thought it happened in Nebraska?

I kind of have mixed feelings, I work in a repair shop and we don't have A/C. Couple weeks back it was over 100 degrees in the shop. We just kept plugging away. We'd take a couple extra 5 minute breaks for water but other than that, business as usual.

Big difference between a repair shop and a fast food restaurant where everything is compacted together and with a bunch of people in close quarters. Plus it’s a matter of employee health (OSHA & state/local Board of Health) and food safety (again,Board of Health).
Would you want a fast food employee to be dripping sweat or passing out from heat exhaustion/heat stroke while cooking/preparing your food?o_O

Having worked in restaurant kitchens in college as a short order cook, I cant blame them one bit... Kitchens are hot and miserable even with GOOD A/C, let alone NO A/C

Indeed. Long before I was a truck driver yours truly worked at a Brown’s Chicken,Taco Bell and 3 McDonald’s(#gluttonforpunishment, neveragain). It didn’t matter what time of the year it was if you didn’t have properly functioning and fully operational HVAC system it could cause major problems, especially it the grill area.

Like we all tell aspiring O/O, if you don't have enough money in the maintenance fund to run for 6 months maybe you shouldn't try owning your own business.
I would think in the franchise agreements there would be a clause that the restaurant had to be kept up in working order.

I'll make a bet that the owner's house was air conditioned and comfortably cool.
If you want your hired help to produce you gotta keep them comfortable. Fixing the A/C should be a no brainer.

We don't really know who is responsible for maintenance though. It could be Burger King, the franchise, or even the building owner (who is renting it out) Heck, could be someone else is responsible department on the contract.

One past job I worked at the owner biught a two unit building. He rented out the second one and the furnace died in the winter time. After a compliment to the local building inspector he came out. When told they were disputing it in court he said he couldn't do anything else.
