Going to Burns Harbor to begin training on 5/14. I was a little leery of England because of all the bad I have been hearing but I spoke yesterday with an old Army friend (we drove trucks there) who has been trucking since 94 and he actually had spoke pretty positive about them compared to some other starter companies. He is an O/O pulling reefers for another company mainly west of the Mississippi so he does run into England drivers frequently.

I kind of expected to go to the Richmond campus because that is closer, but burns harbor it is.

I am looking forward to returning to the one job in my life that i actually enjoyed.

Thanks... I have been researching for months so I am going into this with eyes wide open. I will try to post updates from time to time, but don't look for the travel blog some others are doing... I am way to lazy to do all that. :biggrin_25523:

Welcome aboard Kmac. Good luck and hope all goes well. Sounds like you kind of know what to expect, and understand and are willing to earn your way into this business, (or back in). Wont be all roses, but be patient and smart and it will all work out. Be safe,
    Rob

Thank you for the advice... I can assure you I know how to say no when I make up my mind. My last employer tried hard to keep me. They gave me a 20% increase in my annual bonus in March and then a 14% payraise in April... I am still on my way to England in May.

    Safe Travels Friend!

thanks Browny... I actually feel good about the decision, and yes, I am taking a pay cut in the short term, but I can make that up in the coming years. So I am happy to earn my way in as you say.

Burns Harbor it ain't... I had an accident last July, minor, fender bender, hydorplaed in the rain into a car in front of me at a red light. Did not knock her into the car in front of her, no airbags deployed, no injuries, $800 damage to her car, (Bumper cover) mine had the hood bent and the radiator leaking. We drove to the side of the road and waited for the police, he takes the report, I get a ticket, she drives away, my car is towed because of the radiator.

I disclose the accident on the application, no problems, first accident in 17 years, all is good. Recruiter calls Monday an says Safety wants a copy of the accident report, No Problem, I call the State Police, they fax it over.

I go to pick up bus ticket and Greyhound says it was cancelled and refunded... WTF?

I call recruiter... Oh Yes sir, that was cancelled because one of the cars was towed. Me huh? Recruiter, Yes sir, it is company policy if the accident was preventable and one of the vehicles had to be towed... the accident must be three years old. Me, Buh Bye...

Back to the other company! Good Luck with England folks. I figured the 6 months No Tuition was a good deal, guess it wasn't meant to be for me.

That sucks, I had my own problems finding a company. They all have there different rules, I was going to go to one place, and couldn't because I diclosed something that if I hadn't never would have been discovered. Three misdemeanors that are all over 17 yrs ago.
