Maybe. I have hauled a couple pieces of equipment out of ritchie bros. I usually go snooping around while im in there, and they have alot of junk on their lot. Maybe now would be a good time since they have so much stuff

The cryo tankers down here pay 80-100k. A lot of o/o have a hard time beating that. If you’re going to stick to platform, buy a trailer. There are awesome deals going on new stuff right now and they will only get better. I left LS this week finally after 10.5 years. I had my other truck under my authority since December. Never ended up finding a decent driver for it, so I sold it Monday. I was happy to get $19k Cash for my ‘13 Volvo. I’m debating selling my step now that I have a conestoga flat, but having two trailers should come in handy in my regional operation.

I wouldn't sell it now unless you're making payments on it and can get enough out of it to be rid of the payments.

Not sure why you'd call people running the spot market "cowboys".. Guys running the spot market are usually going to be small mom and pop trucking companies & single truck companies.. Those are the guys you should be wishing there was more of...

Im a fiberglass guy . Any glass repairs you make sure you sand blast the area real good it gives the resin something to bite into.
I prefer using epoxy but might be a little pricey for your project.

    What about sanding vs sandblasting?

Sanding works , but it doesn't take much of a smooth surface for the polyester resin to pop off later in life of the repair. Polyester resin really has no adhesion qualities other than to it self.

Sandblasting the immediate adhesion area really gives it a bind. Epoxy gives excellent adhesion but its 4 times the cost.

I don't really know of anyone nearby with a portable blasting pot. Roof cap will be easy since the cab is getting stripped down to its steel shell. Can just loaded it in the pickup and take it to the nearest blasting place (90 minute drive). Hood's a little harder to load up lol.
