I’ll be sure to check that out. I head out on Tuesday the 4th for them, so I’ll definitely bring it up. I just talked to their operations manager guy and he said that the owner actually had business cards printed out for his employees to hand out, but I’m still going to make sure that I can put our logo on it as well in case we eventually do want to become our own authority

Truth is leasing laws mean you are allowed to see what a load trust pays, no need to taje anyone at their word, small company or big.

This is absolutely the smarter way to go about gaining experience. My husband is an Owner/Operator (as well as several of our close friends) and we each run our own business but have a lease agreement to another carrier as well. We have to find our own loads (personally we use Truck stop), tell the broker what our bid is and the lowest we'll accept. Our lease is pretty much to use their trailers, DOT and MC numbers, and to use their insurance company. All the other expenses (fuel, tolls, repairs, etc.) are either deducted from our 70% of the load pay, or paid for by us directly. The company he is leased to had been previously aware of him continuing to operate as his own business before agreeing to the lease, which has made marketing and advertising much simpler. We are currently waiting to receive our own DOT and MC numbers along with our own freight forwarder and broker license and numbers as well.
