I didn't tell the cop that I was governed, because I didnt want to piss him off. But it didn't matter, he was an #######. He looked to be about 19 years old and walked around like billy jack

He pulled you over for speeding and wrote a ticket for log violation, well you could fight it but it may be worth just paying the fine and be done with it

If it was me I would pay the attorney and have them fight it. It's not about the money it's about keeping your CDL as clean as possible.

Provided they get the 1 ticket tossed your still going to have to pay the fine on the other.

And they don't need an excuse to stop you in a CMV. That's all they do all day long in and around Chicago area.

With how much debt this state has, they need all the money they can get. Big trucks equals Big Bucks to them LOL

If its worth $400 to get the fines/points reduced or eliminated, then take the chance & get an attorney.

If you are willing to pay the fines in an effort to keep it off your record, that will give your attorney some leverage to work with the court (DA) in an attempt to keep this off your record. However, make sure the attorney knows that you expect him to attempt to get a deal that will drop the charges entirely. If that is not successful, then he can offer to plead guilty & pay the fines if they will agree to keep this off your record.

If this wasn't mandatory court, I might be able to advise differently but since I have never been in a situation that was mandatory court, I'd be afraid to comment on what you might be able to do, or not do.

    Hope this helps...

    Good luck driver.

Do you have any advice on a group that defends truck drivers? I called several local Lawyers today. Most of them handle car only traffic violations, or don't do traffic at all. Marshall Illinois is pretty small

I have used Drivers Legal plan. They were successful in getting my tickets tossed but neither time was it in Illinois.

I still had to pay attorney, pay the fines from the tickets with a stipulation that as long as I didn't get any other tickets within a 90 day period that nothing would be on my driving record.

It was worth it to me. Gotta protect your CDL

Get a lawyer and make them litigate it. There's a chance this dude won't even show up for court. This was highway patrol, or a local cop? Local cops tend to not show up in traffic cases, at least in my jurisdiction

When cops wants a paper logs I thought your company faxed it to them. You called local lawyers and none would help so what's that tell you?Pay the fine accept the points and learn from it.You should keep track of your hours thruout the day. There's no excuse for driving over your hrs.

Ummmm, I understand that theres no excuse for driving over hours, and I already admitted that it was dumb. There is no excuse for lots of things that we all do in life. And I see a LOT of dumb truckers doing a LOT of dumb things on the road daily. I am really looking to move from the "rub my nose in poop" phase to something more productive now. Like, from sonmeone who has had luck getting things reduced or something along those lines. Okay?
