i remember when i was little --all the free stuff there was
actually real toys in the ceral boxes
free big calenders
free window scrapers
free ashtrays
anything with advertising was free
later on it switched to free hats---everybody was giving hats and t shirts out
now--basically nothing is free---you pay for it one way or another-but it is nice if they make it seem like it is free
back then--even companies cared about their employees---nowadays that is very seldom found, they only do you a favour--if there is a bigger one in return -
All you guys talkin about free coffee but nobody is saying why its not free anymore. Its the governments fault - plain and simple. High taxes, regulation after regulation which translates to more expenses businesses have to pay, not to mention the idiot politicians who are proud of the regulations they enact not having a clue of what that does to the economy (more expensive for businesses to operate) and then there is the stupid and or ignorant people who vote them into office - and thats why you cant get a free cup of coffee anymore!!!
irnndn Thanks this. -
You spend $800.00 in fuel you should get a free cup.

Cowboy truck stop on I-35 (x174?) at the Stillwater exit on Oklahoma gives you a choice of freebies with a 75 gallon fuel purchase.
Free BBQ sandwich (they have some pretty dang good pit bbq made on site)
Free pack of Cigarettes
Free coffee or drink
Something that really ticks me off about the "big box" truck stops. Why do our showers expire after only a few days. Would be #### nice if at least one shower would stay on my cards for more than a month. That way I would always have a shower when I needed it. Cant tell you how many times I wanted to shower at night, but didnt want to fuel until morning. -
And don't forget the $5 per day for wireless internet!

I got so fed up with the slow service several times at Flying J and I did exactly as you did, walked out with a soda. Especially while they were doing their nightmare conversion last year. -

Most of it is going to end up in bonuses to the board. -
I'm content with my free showers with a fill up.
