Gotcha that would suck after spending 80,000 and they just rule out gliders on the road something about not allowed to register then after 2021 but thanks for the info guys god bless
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Well it looks like only old trucks will be able to be made into gliders or kept original and looks like old truck market will be going up the prices soon.
Thanks to our backwards government and their backwards policies. -
I doubt it but do your research
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Let the gliders glide forever.
What can be more reliable than a good glider? -
Any truck can be as good as a glider, and more reliable than these new ones, all it takes is time and money.
Keepforgettingmypassword, MartinFromBC, wore out and 1 other person Thank this. -
They won't take them off the road, they just won't let any new ones be built after a certain date.
So you do what my boss did and buy a bunch, have them built and ready to go, but park them until you're ready to actually use them. Might be two or three years until the newest one hits the road.
Of course, that takes some money to do...Keepforgettingmypassword, RubyEagle and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
A glider is just buy some parts, and putting them together.
Anyone can do it, this is not rocket science.
In my shop for many years now we have basically been building the equivalent of gliders. I have piles of engines, diffs, transmissions, spare frame rails, cabs, etc to overhaul and build trucks from.
Order somenew parts like the interior, and done. -

Won’t work with a Pete that has the digital dash, that’s why Elkhorn Valley is buying used 389’s and titling them as a 2023 with a Cat engine. An assembled title depends on if your state has anything like that. NE has one and all you have to do is change one major component and you can get one. That’s what Elkhorn is doing. Not sure what the EPA would think if they ever went sniffing around though, because technically any repower of a truck is supposed to be done with the same EPA year model engine.
Keepforgettingmypassword Thanks this.
