32k for a reman accert from cat sounds right.
$9900 don't sound right. Not from a cat house .

Lot of variables there... The cummins I'm checking over had been in framed but, the accessory drive bushing was wore clean out. Lot more moving parts that people tend to forget checking. Rear seal? Big job to get to it and can cause headaches and financial drain. Then again..... We bought a new 1985 International S1800 with a DT466, it now sets on Tyler mountain with 990,000 miles with original block, crank, cam, cam bearings, injection pump, and has had 3 in frames, I personally did 2 of them. Sometimes it is how the other person kept the service on a vehicle to how bad it gets.

Wow $32,000 sounds like a deal. When I asked about swapping mine for a reman C15 a formal price quote was never given but I was told it would end up costing over $40,000. Maybe they were including labor for the swap? I dunno. It was difficult enough signing the check for a platinum inframe on the realization that when I did the motor actually cost more than the tractor itself was worth. At least IMO it was. Of course i'm stunned by how expensive used equipment has been the past several years anyways and never seems to get cheaper. But anyways I knew what I had and so that was peace of mind for the next several years. So it really didn't matter what it cost because I knew I'd get it back and I did.

When i bought my 97 379 it had a cracked block on the 12.7 detroit. The guy i bought it off of set me up with his mechanic who had serviced and worked on the truck its whole life. The mechanic was awesome, he had a buddy who has a wrecking yard and got trucks in all the time. He found me a 12.7 that has 100k on a complete out of frame rebuild and got it for me for $6500. That was a steal in my mind and i havent had a single issue with the motor.

I geuss Im confused about what you mean by "every where". Are the smaller privately owned diesil shops going to honor a factory reman warrenty? If it blows a head gasket and I take it to small diesel repair, will waarenty cover that?
